ATTENTION: Parents of rising 6th graders!
In accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia and PWCS regulations, ALL CHILDREN ENTERING 6TH GRADE MUST HAVE THE Tdap IMMUNIZATION PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 2015. Previously, if your child did not turn 11 until after school started, it was permissible to get a doctor's note indicating the child would get the shot when the child turned 11. That is no longer accepted.
Please, try to make an appointment for your child early, as the doctors' offices get very busy at the end of the summer. When your child gets the shot, please bring the immunization documentation to school. I will put it into the file and your child will be ready for school. If a child does not have the immunization by the first day of school 2015, the child will not be allowed to start school. If you have any questions, please call me at school. I will be happy to help you.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Registration will be ongoing through the summer.  Please see the side tab labeled "School Registration" for more details.  Appointments will be needed to register your child.  Please contact the main office at 703-680-7270 to schedule an appointment between 8:30 and 3:30.

School Hours
McAuliffe Elementary's School Hours Are 8:50-3:40 daily.
Instructional day starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:40 p.m.

Please make sure that if your student is absent for an illness please call the main office first thing in the morning to avoid the school calling your home.

When your child returns to school, please send in a note explaining the absence within two days to ensure the absence is excused.

Toolbox for Education

McAuliffe Elementary School receives $4,250 GRANT!
Lowe’s Donates Money for the purchase of new Guided Reading Books for our School’s Bookroom. These books will be used for classroom, small group instruction.
McAuliffe Elementary is excited to announce that they have received a $4,250 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant for new guided reading books for our school libraries’ book room. Our grant application was based on the goal of improving the school’s learning community by helping to improve student SOL scores through exposing students to new nonfiction and fiction literature. Our students look forward to using these books beginning next fall during small group, reading instruction with their teachers in the classroom. Please join us in thanking Lowe’s for this generous gift!

Dress Code Reminder

REMINDER

We would like to remind everyone with the arrival of hot weather that tops with oversized arm openings, strapless tops, tube tops, tops with spaghetti straps, tank tops, shorts shorter than the tip of student's middle finger and flip-flops are not to be worn in school per the Prince William County Schools Code of Behavior. The Code of Behavior can be found online at www.pwcs.edu. We appreciate everyone's help with ensuring the proper attire of our McAuliffe students.

Thank you!

RECORDATORIO

¡Gracias!
